- No. Feel free to drop off your information anytime during our business hours (Kitchener) (Guelph). After a short review with one of our tax preparers, we will schedule a pick-up time.
What are your hours of operation?
- Please see our office hours (Kitchener) (Guelph) for updates as our hours change through the year. If you are unable to come during these hours, we would be happy to make an appointment outside of our hours.
How long will it take to complete my tax return?
- Completion time varies depending on the complexity of your return and the time of year.
When should I come in to drop off my tax information?
- Please come in once you have received ALL expected slips/information and at your earliest convenience (see What to Bring).
What are some commonly forgotten slips that I may need to bring in?
- Commonly forgotten slips include RRSP contribution receipts for the first 60 days of the year, information about open money transactions (T5008 slip, realized gains/losses report, etc.), property tax/rent information, tips received, prescription summaries, and others. I filed my return with PV Tax last year. Do I need to bring in my past year returns?
- No, you do not need to bring in previous years' information if you filed with us last year.
Do you offer immediate cashback of my tax refund? Can I pay your fee with my tax refund?
- We do not offer immediate cash return, nor do we accept your expected tax refund as payment for our services.
I have multiple years of returns to file. What should I do?
- We are available to assist with multiple returns. Don't panic! Go through our What to Bring page and bring in all relevant documents. Coming to us with your information earlier in the tax season allows adequate time for discussion and preparation.
Is there a discount available for retired seniors? Students? Lower-income persons?
- Yes, discounts are available for retired seniors. We also offer competitive rates for students and lower-income persons.
I have several out-of-pocket prescription medications. What's the best way to submit this information?
- Your pharmacy can print a free summary of all prescription medications you paid for through the year. Please submit this summary to us along with your other information.
I'm not sure if one of my medical expenses is eligible. Where can I find out if it is?
- Here is a link to the CRA guideline for medical expenses. If you still are unsure, please ask us when you drop off your information.
I have a small business/rental property. Do I need to bring in any of my expense receipts?
- We have provided forms for rental and business income/expenses on our Forms & Links page. You can also pick up one of these forms from our office. Filling in your yearly totals ahead of time will save you money on your tax preparation fee. There is no need to submit original receipts to us, but please retain them for your records.
I'm moving out of town. Can you still prepare my taxes?
- Yes! PV Tax has clients all over the world. Please come in to discuss your options with one of our team members.
I have experienced a major life change and I don't know how it may impact my tax return. What should I do?
- PV Tax has expertise in preparing taxes for those who are recently separated, new parents, new homeowners, the recently deceased, new small business owners, and more. Please let us know of any major life changes when you come by our office.

What is the tax deadline this year?
- The deadline this year is April 30, 2024. Fees and interest compound monthly, so please come in as early as possible to avoid fines.
I was called by someone claiming to be an employee of the Canada Revenue Agency. What should I do?
- Do not give any personal information to anyone over the phone. Ask for their contact information to call them back, then contact PV Tax for next steps. You can also visit the CRA's fraud prevention page for more information.
I received a notice of reassessment or other letter from the CRA that says I owe more money. What should I do?
- Please come in to speak to one of our team members before paying. We will ensure that the information is correct and make any changes if need be. Come in as soon as you receive the letter to avoid interest charges.
Do I need to make copies of the information I bring to you?
- There is no need to make copies. We return all original paperwork to you. If we need to keep any information, we will retain a photocopy.
I am a student or young adult and I have questions about taxes. Can I speak to someone about this?
